Running Shoe Life Span

ree

Whether you are preparing for a big race or just enjoy a Saturday morning park run, your running shoes are with you for every step. But how long should you keep wearing the same shoe and when is it time to change?

Running shoes are designed to support your feet and absorb forces repetitively. Over time they lose their shock absorption abilities, which in return can result in changes to your running gait and the forces your body has to absorb, which can potentially increase the risk of injury.

Individuals vary in the level of support they require in their trainers, if you require a more supportive shoe then checking your shoes appearance may be more important as over time you will lose this support in comparison to someone who runs in a more neutral shoe.

Now every shoe and runner are clearly different but you can expect on average around 300-500 miles out of a trainer before considering a new pair.
